BACKSTORY: The story goes back to when Willy Herrera got his hands on some phenomenal Brazilian Mata Fina tobacco and decided to build an entire cigar around it. Smart move. Because this wrapper is absolutely incredible. Rich, oily, dark, and loaded with flavor like you wouldn't even believe..
Underneath you'll find a Connecticut Broadleaf binder and a blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers, all rolled at Drew Estate's famed factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.
The day I first smoked it...the first few puffs told me everything I needed to know.
BOOM! Dark chocolate. Fresh cracked black pepper. Espresso. Earth. Molasses. Brown Sugar.
Then it started evolving...
The sweetness got even deeper. The spice settled in. The smoke gets thick and chewy. Every draw seems to unlock something new--dried fruit, caramel, heavy cream, toasted pecan.
But...what really impressed the heck outta me is the balance. A lot of maduros hit you over the head with strength and call it complexity. Not this one. The Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper brings a unique elegance that keeps everything refined while still delivering plenty of body and richness.
